Aqua are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year and launched their Hire business in 2018, specialising in commercial and industrial applications across the UK. Their range of temperature control rental equipment includes chillers, air conditioning units, boilers, portable heaters, and ancillaries such as fuel management and supply.

Group Director, Kevin Lancaster explains; “Our hire division has gone from strength to strength in a very short space of time and we see Ben’s appointment as key in building on our achievements going forward. His experience and specialist technical knowledge are a real asset and I’m delighted to have him on board.”

“I am really excited about using my industry experience and knowledge to help propel Aqua Hire to the next stage, building on the excellent achievements of the team to date. Together, I’m confident that we can achieve great things during 2021 and beyond”

Fighting Back!

Aqua Hire are on the frontline, helping critical sector clients fight back against the current COVID-19 crisis.

This last week has seen our teams busier than ever, on-site helping hospitals, supermarkets, food processors and storage facilities with temperature control solutions to help them cope with these unprecedented circumstances.

Our Engineers installed a temporary 100kW boiler to a South London based food superstore after their in-house system failed leaving them without hot water. As well as being critical for staff hygiene and comfort, hot water is critical to keeping the store’s cleaning and maintenance facilities operating. Within a few hours of taking the call, Aqua Hire Engineers were on site and had the food store back up and running the same day.

We also supplied, delivered and installed a hire boiler to a busy city hospital, a 300kW chiller to another main hospital for their welfare facilities, and a chiller combined with an air handler for a hospital mortuary application. In addition, we supplied cooling equipment to a medical storage company. Their facility has a larger than normal level of medical stock on site now, due to the COVID-19 response, meaning they urgently needed extra cooling to keep the medicine safely stored.

“It’s been a crazy week”, explains Sales Engineer, Jack Crawford. “However, myself & the team are committed to supporting key sector customers during this uncertain and challenging time. We can offer rapid turnaround of kit, ideal for these urgent requirements and we’ll do whatever it takes to help.”

Aqua Gains SafeContractor Accreditation

Aqua Heating Hire has received accreditation from Alcumus SafeContractor for achieving excellence in the workplace for health and safety.

The leading third-party Alcumus SafeContractor accreditation scheme is designed to recognise highly rigorous standards within health and safety management amongst contractors. Thousands of companies use the scheme in the UK, including SMEs as well as FTSE 100 companies.

For Aqua Hire, the SafeContractor accreditation demonstrates its ongoing commitment to safety, and illustrates that a set standard is achieved across the business. Aqua already have CHAS (Contractor’s Health and Safety Scheme) accreditation and employees undertake CDM (Construction and Design Management) training.

Shaun Tribbeck, Aqua’s Quality, Health & Safety Manager explains: “This latest accreditation gives a stamp of approval from Alcumus SafeContractor that our operations are running safely and smoothly across the business. It is only given to companies that pass an audited process on health and safety, property safety and risk management”.

This latest accreditation gives further peace of mind to clients of how highly regarded safety is when Aqua’s engineers are attending and working on their sites and amongst their own employees and other contractors. Aqua’s Managing Director, Kevin Lancaster, explains: “Health and safety is something we take extremely seriously at Aqua Cooling, and we’re delighted to be able to demonstrate to our customers that they can put their total trust in us and the way that we operate.”

Putting Hire To The Test

For many our clients, our Hire service is key in helping them with manufacturing trials, load evaluations and product or equipment testing. By Hiring there’s no need for any capital outlay or up-front investment and the equipment you need is available for exactly when you need it. Hire has many other advantages, including 24/7 service support backup and access to the very latest products and cooling technology.

At Aqua Hire we have clients in the oil, gas and defence industries who regularly use our chiller hire solutions for equipment trials. For example, we recently supplied a 150kW air blast cooler for testing purposes. The air blast was used to transfer waste heat which was being generated by a high-tech compressor. Equally, for clients running R&D trials on a new manufacturing process or wanting to carry out load evaluation tests, Hire is a cost effective and efficient option.

Our minimum Hire period starts at just 1 week, and our Hire agreements are very flexible. Our team are on hand to help with equipment selection and are experienced across a wide range of industries. For further information call Aqua Hire today.

Aqua Help With J-Lay Project

Aqua Hire have supplied a Chiller Hire unit which has been used in a huge engineering project at Port of Blyth in the North East of England.

The project has resulted in the creation of a 2,500-tonne offshore gas and oil pipe laying system, one of the largest in the world. Commonly referred to as the J-Lay System, the 80-metre mega structure has been constructed and tested at the Port’s South Harbour terminal.

Initially everything surrounding the build was very hush hush, but the project has been turning heads locally over recent months as huge futuristic pieces of equipment have been arriving on site.

Aqua Hire supplied a 300kW chiller from its hire fleet which was used in a hydraulic cooling application during the project’s testing phase.

In very simple terms, the project consists of a giant cable laying machine which is situated on a ship. When the machine is laying the cabling under the sea, to stop it the operators must, quite literally, put the brakes on. Because of the size of the machinery, the heat load then generated is immense, which is where the chiller comes into its own in dissipating the heat.

With years of ship building heritage behind it, the Port of Blyth has redeveloped itself over the years into a recognised offshore energy base. The J-Lay will be deployed around the world longer term as part of a large deep-sea offshore construction vessel.
